Dear All, before you read the post below, I just wanted to add that I have been editing and re-editing this post for a while now and that's why it has taken me a very, very long time to post this next blog, so thank you for being so patient and hope you like reading it. Also, it's not snowing anymore - as far as we know - it's more like Summer weather, at the moment. :-)
All the best and happy reading,
Mrs. R :-)
Dear All,
Hello again from Mrs. R! :-) It's been an incredibly long time since my last blog post and since then, Mr. R and I have been through many an adventure and rollercoaster of emotions....Now, it's time to update you on all of our adventures....
A lot has definitely happened since the last update. We've had a couple of jam- packed Summer holidays, including seeing Fleetwood Mac at the O2 Arena in London ( June 2015), visiting Northern Ireland to see Mr R's grandparents and family members ( July 2015), seeing Mark Kermode (a film critic which Mr R likes) at a Charity film festival/auction (July 2015), a couple of trips to Cambridge (just me and Mr R in August 2015 and August 2016) and visiting our families and friends in the South East of London and in the South West of England, including a day trip to Redruth in Cornwall to see a very good and dear friend of Mr R's and mine (Summer 2015 and Summer 2016). One pretty cool thing that happened this Summer 2016, was being able to help Mr R's family with their garage. It was really great exercise and energy being able to help lift and shift rubble and tools from one place to another and this really helped Mr R and I to shift ourselves away from our slightly sedentary lifestyle in Kuwait. :-)
One big thing which has happened to us is that Mr R and I have changed destinations again because, even though we liked Kuwait and we are eternally grateful to Mr R's brother/my brother-in-law and his wife/our sister-in-law for guiding us to Kuwait and lovingly and generously supporting us in our experiences and challenges, we felt that our lives were heading in a different direction, and the failure of Mr. R's paperwork again gave us the final straw that we needed to move on....
Before leaving Kuwait, I must mention that my last academic year there was much better, with me working as a teaching assistant with 2 -3 year olds and a really lovely Teacher and another teaching assistant who were really supportive and encouraging to me during my time with them, particularly when, towards the end of that academic year (the last two months May and June 2016), I was able to help/ cover the Music Teacher (who was away on maternity leave during that time) and ended up teaching Music to the whole Kindergarten, made up of 500 children, which was a really good experience for me and gave me more assertion in my role as a teacher/educator.... :-)
So, our current destination is....back in Bratislava, Slovakia (Central Europe) again. :-D :-D
We really loved it here before and our generous, loving employers/ spiritual parents were very happy to have us help them in their International Primary School and Kindergarten once again. :-) :-)
So far, we have had a really good start to the academic year Sep 2016/ June 2017. Mr R has been really enthused with helping to set up and running the Primary School section of the School and I have been learning and teaching Reception class (4 to 5 year olds) (as a Reception class Teacher), alongside another wonderful Co-Teacher and Teacher/Teaching Assistant and it has been really wonderful being able to teach subjects such as Literacy, Virtues (Moral Education/Character development) and Music (and occasionally aiding with the Music curriculum, as a Music Co-ordinator for the Kindergarten and Primary School).
I have also been teaching Music to Mr R's Year 2 class and I aided Mr R with his Winter/Christmas Concert this past December 2016.
Right now, I have been trying to balance my school life with my course work life. I am still working on the CACHE Level 3 Early Years Educator Course with the NEC (National Extension College, based in Cambridge, England) and I have been enjoying it so far, albeit going through a slow patch (which is normal, apparently, when studying any course, etc), and over the Christmas period (22nd Dec 2016 - 8th January 2017), I have been trying to get back on track and will, God Willing, get through this course to the best of my ability.
Mr R's parents also visited us here in Bratislava for a week last October 2016 and we all had a lovely time being able to walk around Bratislava and see Bratislava in the Autumn time. We were fortunate to have quite mild weather during that time and we ended their holiday by going to Vienna (Austria) (which is only a day trip for those who live in Slovakia, as it is only across the river Danube) for the day and dropping Mr R's parents at Vienna Airport, as well.
For the Christmas Period (22nd December 2016 - 5th January 2017), we flew back to England to spend the festive period with our families. We flew to Stansted Airport (a short 2 hour flight from Bratislava) and stayed the night with my parents in Bexleyheath, before travelling to Plymouth via Coach and spending a week with Mr R's family which was a wonderful, wonderful time full of baking, cooking, eating and playing games and quizzes together. We then travelled back to my parents to spend New Year's eve with them and also really enjoyed the time there for a few days.
We are now back in our lovely flat in the City Centre of Bratislava, with snow all around us (when we left Bratislava in Dec 2016, there had been 1 1/2 inches/ 4 cm of snow on the ground and when we arrived back to Bratislava on the 5th of January 2017 and 6th January 2017, it was snowing too!) and we're really looking forward to going back to work again, seeing our lovely employers, colleagues and friends and I'm getting back into the swing of things with my studies too.... (God Willing.)
We've also been fortunate enough to be able to visit Salzburg, Austria again this (18th - 23rd) February 2017, for our half-term, which I will be blogging about in the not-so-distant future and stay posted, as I hope to add some photographs to this blog so you can see all of our past and future experiences and adventures.....
All the best for 2017 and until the next time,
Mrs. R :-)
